Some chairs and certain types of\nfurniture may not be suitable for use with any of the sockets we sell. There\nis always a risk that modifying furniture by adding sockets or casters may\nlead to furniture damage or personal injury. Use these sockets at your own\nrisk. Shaped like a broad-brimmed top hat, this socket is perfect for chairs\nwith thick and sturdy wooden legs. The wide-diameter tack plate (the brim of\nthe hat) measures 2 1\/8-in. so the stress of the caster stem is distributed\nover a wide area, reducing the likelihood of damage to your chair leg. This\nsocket is sometimes used on pianos. Can be used on a variety of wooden\nfurniture. We used four of these on the plant pot platform pictured at the top\nof this page. Will fit a 7\/16-in. diameter stem up to 1 1\/4-in. long. Start by\ndrilling a hole at least 9\/16-in. diameter in the bottom of your chair leg (or\nother furniture).
