Description: The 74HC4051 is a single-pole analog octal switch (SP8T) designed for analog or digital 8:1 multiplexers / Demultiplexer applications. The switch has three digital select inputs (S0, S1 and S2), eight independent inputs/outputs (Yn), one common input/output (Z) and one digital enable input (E). When E is HIGH, the switches are off. The inputs contain clamping diodes. This allows the use of current limiting resistors to connect inputs to voltages above VCC. - When E is low, one of the 8 switches from S0-S2 is selected (low impedance state). When E is high, all switches go to a high impedance state
- VCC and GND are the supply pins for the digital control connections (S0-S2, E). The VCC to GND range of the 74HC4051 is 2.0V-10.0V.
